Grandfather wanted for the schooner Mira – help run both ship and business


Would you like to help sail, maintain and develop a historic sailing ship – and at the same time be an important part of a small, committed team? The schooner Mira is looking for a best man for the 2026 season, where you will have responsibility, freedom and the opportunity to put your own mark on both the ship and operations.About the schooner Mira

Mira is a two-masted schooner from 1898 based in Copenhagen. We sail a diverse program that ranges from day charters, company trips and cruises in the Swedish archipelago to regattas, events along the quay and youth sailing. We also run our own youth school team in Copenhagen and participate in Unghavn Summer Camp, so there is both tradition, communication and development in our everyday life.

As a boatman on Mira, you will be a central part of the daily operations and sailing. You will work closely with the skipper and be responsible for both practical tasks, guests and maintenance. As we are only two permanent crew members on board, you must be comfortable taking responsibility and be able to work independently, and also expect to be alone on board at times.


Your tasks will include:


  • Participation in sailing and maneuvers
  • Preparation, rigging, down-rigging and daily maintenance
  • Reception and servicing of guests
  • Cleaning and order on board
  • Participation in events and youth sailing


We are looking for you who:


  • Have at least a best man's certificate and preferably experience from sailing ships
  • Have mate or coastal skipper papers (an advantage, but not a requirement)
  • Is service-oriented, responsible and practical
  • Has a sense of order, cleaning and maintenance
  • Have an interest in the sailing cultural heritage and a desire to create experiences for both children and adults
